September 23 – Understanding Background on Assessment and the “Big Picture” – This session will focus on the purpose of assessment and how it is the linking element between the standards and instruction. Formative assessment and effective feedback will be discussed, modeled and practiced in both large and small groups. Attendees will learn how the research assessment design demands a major paradigm shift in the classroom and how assessment is the foundation to that shift.
October 21 – Assessment 101 – This hands-on session will focus on methodologies used in creating and ensuring high quality formative and summative assessments. Attendees will learn how to use the research behind assessment designing and high-quality common assessments.
November 18 – Next Steps: Embedding Sound Assessment Practice into Daily Instruction – This hands-on session will build upon practices learned in the first two sessions in order to establish common procedures within the district, school or PLC. Attendees will discuss a framework and process for creating and evaluating assessments within their district or school.
